Welcome to our regular Saturday feature “What Aggravates Me”
It happens every time I try to do something involving my name. Apparently John Knight is a pretty common name. A few years ago, I was flying home from the Dominican Republic. There were two flights, the one I was booked on was 4:15. I arrived at the airport early enough that I asked if I could get on the 1:15. As the woman at the counter was searching for my name, she told me I was already on that flight.
“With a connection out of Miami to Heathrow.”
“I’m going to Pittsburgh.”
That’s when she realized there would be two John Knights flying out of Santo Domingo.
I had already gone through security ten minutes earlier when I heard my name being called to report back to security.
“I’m John Knight.”
“No, not you.”
“I’m John Knight.”
I turned around and there I was. It was him they wanted and not me. Or me that they wanted and…Oh, it’s all so confusing. Turns out he got called back for having a cigar cutter in his bag. So, we both smoke cigars. It’s strange when you meet yourself and find out how much you have in common.
When I first started my website I was trying to get the domain name of John Knight. Turns out it was already taken by some guy that teaches square dancing in Utah. Now, this may come as a surprise to some of you, but I have never on any occasion square danced.
Isn’t that where you “skip to your loo?” Isn’t loo a British word for bathroom or toilet? I have hopped to my loo, when I was in pain. I have run to my loo when I was…Let’s just say I needed to get there fast. I’ve also done a kind of a duck walk to the loo. As far as skipping, nahhh.
So now, I’ve started doing these “What Aggravates Me” videos. The problem is, finding them on YouTube. When I type in my name other John Knight’s come up. I think even Gladys Knight comes up before me. You know, from “Gladys Knight and the Pips.” Maybe if I added some Pips I would be easier to find. It’s just that I’ve been a solo for so long.
The first name that comes up is a Dr. John Knight. Which leads me to ask,
“Who is turning to YouTube for medical help?”
I realize insurance is very high but there must be better solutions. I can see looking at YouTube for videos on how to hand a shelf or proper way to stain. Since I’m not the most mechanically inclined person, I’ve used it on occasion. It was a big help in changing the headlight in my last car. But, what kind of medical tips can you find there?
“Remove that painful Gallbladder in three easy steps. All you’ll need is a sharp knife, barbeque tongues, needle and thread and a bottle of whiskey. Now let’s get started…”
I guess I’ll just have to start giving medical advice, so I come up first. I have to go now, I’m meeting myself for coffee.
